Overview

Purpose of the job:
Digital Domain is a premier visual effects studio. Our artists create stunning visual effects for top-tier movies like Avengers, Spiderman and Beauty and the Beast. The Software R&D team develops ground-breaking tools for the artists that let them achieve the seemingly impossible.

This position will support and improve Digital Domain’s award winning facial capture and animation workflow, Masquerade 2.0, which includes a set of tools and algorithms based on machine learning and traditional approaches in facial motion capture, retargeting and facial rigging. You will work closely with the facial rigging supervisor and take ownership of the toolset and workflows and help with the new advancements in technology in the facial development team.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
● Participate in weekly meetings and electronic discussions.
● Be the technical expert in the current toolset.
● Investigate short and long term solutions for problems found in production.
● Help identity opportunities for improvement in the toolset and workflow.
● Implement new approaches to problems, preferably leveraging machine learning and data driven techniques.
● Write documentation, both internal for other developers and external for the user community

Qualifications:
● Computer Science / Math / Physics
● Adept in both C++ and Python
● Minimum of 4 years experience in Visual Effects tools development or R&D role.
● A broad knowledge and curiosity about computer graphics, motion capture and user experience is very important.
● Organized, with good communication skills, and shows self-initiative.
● Desirable to have experience in: multi-view reconstruction, motion capture, geometry processing, OpenCV, sparse data interpolation, machine learning, numpy/pytorch/scikit-learn, Maya API.
