About this Position

Reporting to the Head of Pipeline, the Pipeline Developer identifies and solves complex VFX Pipeline challenges for tools, plug-ins and VFX workflows. A successful candidate will be able to multitask, and be proactive while remaining methodical, organized, and detail oriented. Our ideal candidate will have experience working in the fast paced world of VFX using industry standard DCC applications as well as Shotgun Toolkit. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience using simulation software such as Houdini. We are just starting out and the successful candidate will be able to rapidly iterate as we flesh out our production pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Works daily with Pipeline Management team to identify and implement existing and new features
  • Take a leading role in the development of our Houdini pipeline and workflows
  • Troubleshoot artist tool issues; develop effective solutions with pipeline team
  • Collaborate with Production team; attend production meetings as needed for requirements gathering and ongoing project updates
  • Follow coding standards and participate in code reviews
  • Write technical briefs and UI documentation
  • Provide weekly updates on Pipeline development status, and notifies stakeholders of any upcoming production risks

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience in VFX, Gaming, or similar development environment
  • Experience with DCC applications and Python
  • Experience using the render farm Deadline with simulation packages such as Houdini
  • Experience with user interface design in QT/PyQT
  • Experience using or developing for Shotgun Toolkit
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • The ability to communicate eloquently and effectively with non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Python 3.x and C++
  • Experience in developing libraries used by other TDs and software engineers
  • Proficiency with version control systems, Git or SVN preferred
  • Experience with the  Linux operating system and bash shell scripting
  • Experience working with a distributed team
  • A degree in computer science, math or engineering is preferred but not required

Location & Starting Date

  • Ideally you will be working out of our office in Vancouver, BC, however remote work may be a possibility for an exceptional candidate
