Overview
We are currently looking for a Tools Developer. The main duties of a Tools Developer, in coordination with the CG Supervisors and CG Leads, is to develop scripts and tools to simplify/streamline the workflow and improve the user experience, production flow and quality of work within the studio’s 3D departments.
Responsibilities:
- Creation of scripts for facility/project/shot based challenges
- Write the technical documentation for developed tools and scripts
- Assist in creation of training materials
- Attend Pipeline meetings as required
- Complete tasks within the time frame given
Core Qualifications:
- Analytical mind and love of problem solving
- Minimum 3 years VFX experience within film or TV
- Basic knowledge of compositing tools including Nuke
- Production level understanding of:
- Procedural and object-oriented programming languages
- Python (working knowledge in Maya preferred)
- Working knowledge for at least one the following 3D departments:
- Rigging and Animation
- Dynamics and effects including cloth, hair, fluids, etc.
- Modeling and UV
- Texturing and Shading
- Lighting and Rendering
Additional Qualifications:
- Scripting languages including MEL script C, C++
- Database experience (SQL)
- Revision Control Systems (SVN)
- User interface design and standard UI toolkits such as PyQT or PySide
- Experience with various production software; Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Mari, RV, Zbrush, Shotgun
- Experience creating plug-ins for Maya
- Experience creating plug-ins for Nuke
