VFX Associate Producer

This position is based in Vancouver. All applicants must reside in British Columbia or Ontario if applying within Canada.

Our Vancouver, BC location is currently seeking an experienced VFX Associate Producer.

The VFX Associate Producer is the co-pilot to the producer and also reports to our HOPs.  The position is a combination of coordinator and producer tasks for those tracking into a producer position. Zoic heavily utilizes Shotgun in production, and our Associate Producers will need to be familiar with it coming in.

The ideal candidate will have previous coordination and production management experience, a deep understanding of the VFX pipeline and must work well in a team environment with tight deadlines. The right candidate must be able to handle high-pace and high volume work.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule preliminary resources and ensure sufficient artists are booked and alert Producer of resource deficiencies
  • Ensure on-set Supervisor has all art department files for upcoming episodes
  • Work with Producer to manage the look development and asset creation
  • Organize all concept art and files, and distribute accordingly
  • Organize requests for onset references and HDRI with Supervisor and On Set Supervisors
  • Work with the Producer to update the Resource Manager weekly with resource requirements
  • Primary responsibility is to ensure client and internal deliveries are met each day
  • Schedule meetings including concept, production and spotting sessions
  • Update Shotgun with bid hours and schedule as required
  • Update budget breakdowns and assignments daily
  • Work with Producer and Leads to establish “battle plan” for each episode and coordinate resources
  • Keep Resource Manager updated with resource schedule revisions and needs
  • Communicate with coordinators to maintain up-to-date information on what each artist is doing at all times.
  • Follow up on tasks and assignments throughout the day as needed
  • Coordinate and prioritize reviews with Creative Director and/or VFX Supervisor
  • Assist with note taking. Make sure notes are distributed properly and entered into Shotgun
  • Ensure Actuals and Projections are updated daily
  • Flag any major issues to Producer and/or HOP
  • Manage and oversee coordinators including making sure they are posting accurate shot versions and caveats
  • Ensure new artists are accustomed to show including pipeline and time billing
  • Work with coordinators to ensure proper files and shot versions are deleted, reference sheets and overcuts are updated for vault
  • Other production related duties and reasonable duties as assigned
  • Leadership and performance management of artists as needed

Requirements:

  • 4 + years of coordination experience on television and/or feature production
  • Production experience with Shotgrid (formerly Shotgun)
  • Experience with Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Organized and highly detail oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Expert relationship building and client management skills
  • Understanding of 3D/2D VFX pipelines
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment
  • Editing experience is a plus
  • Cinesync or similar dailies session experience
  • Project management experience
  • Artist management experience
  • Budget and script breakdown experience a plus
