Outsource Coordinator (Roto & Paint Department)

This position is based in Vancouver. All applicants must reside in the United States, or British Columbia/Ontario if applying within Canada.

We are currently seeking a Roto & Paint Outsource Coordinator for our Vancouver studio.

The Outsource Coordinator will work closely with both the Roto & Paint Supervisor and Department Manager to ensure that all roto and paint tasks required to be outsourced are dealt with efficiently and within production deadlines. You will be the main link between the internal Roto & Paint team and the Internationally located vendors. This position reports to the Roto & Paint Department Manager.

This next part is very important! This position, although requiring less experience within the VFX pipeline, it requires a person who absolutely and unequivocally possesses traits that include; highly detailed oriented, following instructions to the letter, enjoy and have a high aptitude for executing repetitive tasks while still paying attention to small details, but also not turning on ‘auto pilot’.  You will want to come in to the Roto & Paint team, take time to understand the entire process, the artists and be willing to grow and commit to the role long term. You love facilitating a process, have a willingness to work, make mistakes, learn from those mistakes and move forward with lessons learnt. If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you!

Regular hours will be 1 PM to 10 PM with potential for overtime, and/or some weekend work when required.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with Roto & Paint team to break down workload requiring outsourcing.
  • Accurately prepare reports in Excel and Word in order to update production on milestones and deliveries.
  • Coordinate and communicate file specification requirements between vendor and studio.
  • Communicate and act as liaison between international outsource vendors & studio.
  • Request and gather quotes from vendors.
  • Support daily requests for the department from various projects.
  • Provide updates to department Supervisor and Manager.
  • Other tasks and errands consistent with the position as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 1 year min. past experience in coordination role within VFX studio.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Experience with Shotgun
  • Thorough knowledge of Roto & Paint process.
  • Experience in a fast paced Administrative role.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be comfortable communicating by telephone.
  • Must be able to follow direction and work and problem solve independently.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Eager to learn and pick up new skills efficiently.
  • Takes initiative and thrives in a very fast paced environment.
