Overview
We are currently seeking a Character Supervisor for our Vancouver studio. This is a key position that will supervise the process of rigging of all assets through the pipeline; from concept to final renders. The ideal candidate will work closely with the rigging department, as well as modeling, texturing, shading and lighting to ensure quality and efficiency through to project delivery. The Character Supervisor reports to the Heads of Production and Creative Director. This is a 1 year, full time position.
Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the Creative Director, Animation Supervisor & CG Supervisors
- Responsible for the technical developments needed to execute the work of the rigging department and collaborate with all other departments involved in asset creation
- Collaborates with Animation Leads and Rigging Artists to find the most appropriate solution to produce desired CG character performances.
- Distribute the work to the team according to the production schedule, ensuring that it will be finished on time and with the standard of quality required.
- Approves all assets as it relates to rigging.
- Particular focus on facial performance and improving the overall quality of characters
- Works with all departments; modelling, texturing, shading, rigging, animation, and lighting
- Responsible for multiple characters and projects simultaneously
- Work closely with Animation TD and riggers
- On-the-box duties as required
- Administrative duties including production meetings, dailies etc.
Qualifications:
- Expert hands-on experience of rigging complex characters & creatures showcased by comprehensive reel.
- Past lead or supervisory role within Rigging department
- Extensive experience in facial performance
- Experience in MAYA based pipeline
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work within a fast paced environment
- Passion for high quality facial animation
