Overview
Our Vancouver, BC location is seeking an experienced Matte Painter for a mid-January start.This position is project based. The chosen candidate will be working on a variety of shows which will include Episodic and Feature work.Anticipated end date is May 2017.
Summary of Position
The ideal candidate will be part of the matte painting department. You will be responsible for collaborating with other team members to create 2D and 3D matte paintings under the direction of our Matte Painting Supervisor and Lead.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the creation of the 2D, 2.5D, and 3D elements of an environment shot.
- Combine photographic, paint, and 3D assets to create and design environments using techniques such as camera animation, image projection, layering, and lighting
- Provide and acquire photographic and other reference materials
Qualifications
- Min. 3 years experience working as a matte painter
- Extensive use and knowledge of Photoshop
- Experience in MARI a plus
- Strong traditional portfolio of photography, painting, drawing, and sketching
- Strong knowledge of 3D animation programs such as Maya
- Strong knowledge of Nuke, both 2D & 3D
- Good Knowledge of lighting, rendering and the compositing process
- Positive attitude, hard worker, flexible schedule for deliveries
