Overview
We are currently seeking a Concept Designer for our Vancouver studio. This is a project-based position that will include a variety of projects including film, episodics, stream-series and event television. The successful candidate will focus on organic concepts and designs for both creature and humanoids. The Concept Designer reports to the Concept Supervisor and Character Supervisor as well as the Creative Director.
Requirements and Qualifications:
The Concept Designer works with the Concept Supervisor, and in collaboration with the Creative Director to establish overall look and design for all hero characters and pitch work using both traditional and digital art methodologies.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Tasks include character and costume design exploration
- Must be an expert in Photoshop
- Knowledge of Z-Brush and 3D concepting a plus
- Experienced in both hard body & organic creature design
- Must be able to generate designs that exist in a live action setting
- At least 4 years’ experience as a concept artist within entertainment industry
- Strong artistic ability to design from both verbal creative input and pre-conceptualized artwork
- Expert eye for colour and composition
- Ability to take artistic direction
- Work well with tight deadlines
- Must be able to work independently
- Experience must be showcased with an up-to-date portfolio that includes character design
- Organized, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
