Overview

Our Vancouver location is currently seeking an Animation Supervisor.  This role is for an immediate, full time opening. The Animation Supervisor reports to the Head of Production and Creative Director.

The Animation Supervisor needs to have exceptional animation and character animation skills as well as strong organizational, administrative, leadership, and communication skills. They are responsible for providing day to day guidance and supervision to their team. Previous experience in a supervisory role is a must. Experience providing constructive artistic and job performance feedback, is highly desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend bid meetings for all projects to estimate hours needed
  • Assign animators to shots appropriate for their skills and experience
  • Creatively oversee all work within department and give revisions as required
  • Attend dailies as needed
  • Maintain studio quality standards
  • The Animation Supervisor must understand the client directive in order to lead the animators towards client expectations, and to ensure ideas are realized.
  • Review reels w/ Recruiting, participate in interviews for animators, riggers, and lead animators. Make recommendations on new hires.
  • Communicate with Animation Department Coordinator to manage priorities and deliveries
  • Work with HR to manage performance and morale of team this includes performance reports as needed
  • Oversee all new hire orientation and training

Qualifications:

The Animation Supervisor needs past supervisory experience, effective communication skills and a expert eye for VFX specific animation.  An ability to manage and mentor talent, combined with the ability to meet deadlines and bid hours. They will have a minimum of 2 years experience in a Lead or Supervisory position and at least 5 years experience as a creature/character animator.  Previous experience in episodic is highly preferred.

The Animation Supervisor must be able to work as part of the senior creative team, to interpret decisions and notes, and to communicate priorities and vision to the animation crew. They must be able to multitask and handle the pressure of multiple high volume live action television and feature film projects simultaneously.
