WildBrain is looking for a Accounting Supervisor to join our Accounting team!

If you’re a deadline-oriented person with mind-blowing organizational skills and a knack with numbers, we want you to be part of the WildBrain team!  This is a 6-month position in our BC-based Studio, with the potential of a permanent role.

This position is perfect for a self-motivated individual who doesn’t miss a detail. Someone who is software-savvy, with an appetite to take on new challenges, and collaborate with some pretty awesome folks. And did I mention you’ll be working in a studio that makes cartoons?

The successful individual will supervise and provide support to the accounting team, reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, with much of their focus on the Company’s production and finance activities.  In addition, the Accounting Supervisor will be integral to ensuring accurate accounting and reporting over the parent company and its related subsidiary production companies.

What You’ll Do:

  • Supervise and review work of Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Accounts Receivable accountants, with input from the Assistant Controller
  • Meet with team members on a regular basis to monitor performance
  • Promote a team atmosphere
  • Review of large number of monthly bank reconciliations in multiple currencies
  • Assistance with preparation of month/quarter/year-end reporting and audit support packages for group of companies
  • Responsible for Payroll Accruals and Accounts Payable accruals
  • Responsible for filing of quarterly BC EHT
  • Management of intercompany payments
  • Assisting with full cycle accounting of the parent company
  • Maintains and helps implement accounting controls and systems within a SOX environment
  • Liaising with auditors as needed
  • Identifies gaps in system and business processes and designs and implements new system solutions
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve activities, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless service to internal and external customers
  • Provide vacation coverage for accounting team members

What you’ll bring:

Training and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant supervisory experience, including accounting for a group of companies
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field at an accredited college or university
  • Professional accounting designation or enrolled in CPA and pursuing an accounting designation

Skills:

  • Advanced Excel Skills and a high level of Proficiency with MS Suite of applications
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the film and TV industry including Canadian funding and tax credit systems would be an asset.
  • Experience in the use of online business banking platforms
  • Operates with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent critical analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong coaching skills and ability to build a positive team spirit
  • Good organization, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication (English) and interpersonal skills are a must
  • Must be able to work against time constraints; be flexible and adaptable
