Overview

Waterproof Studios  is looking for an Intermediate to Senior VFX Artist to create visually compelling visual effects and simulations for both interior and exterior settings in an upcoming AAA title. This would involve utilizing a wide bank of previously generated FX and either modifying or repurposing FX for completed cinematic animations created in studio.  Working closing with the Unreal Cinematics Supervisor and Art Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the production and implementation of library VFX and to generate modified or new FX that uphold the aesthetic vision of the game and maintain the highest level of consistency and quality possible. Considerations of the limitations of the modified game engine including understanding of memory budgets and utilizing previously created assets to maximize success.

Job Responsibilities

Assist in the creation of Visual Effects for real time in game cinematics
Be able to describe and defend your methodology and approach to the use and duration of the FX in question

Work Experience

At least 3+ years of experience in either video game development and/or 3D animation Studio

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

Minimum of 1-year 2D/3D art degree with an emphasis in art creation or equivalent work experience

Knowledge/Skills

Past FX experience with realtime rendering engines
Unreal game engine experience/knowledge
Excellent understanding of color, space, mood, materials, and simulation properties that produce outstanding FX
Solid understanding of simulation and post processing effects.
Demonstrated ability to integrate the creative and technical FX processes while ensuring that high production values are never compromised.
Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies
Knowledge of Houdini an asset
