Versatile Media Ltd. is a successful media company that has been a recognized and trusted production hub for over 30 years. We have recently opened a studio in Vancouver, Canada with a sole focus on virtual production workflows for film and TV production using real-time rendering technology as well as creating original animation and live action IP.
Versatile blends creativity with the latest technology in our purpose-built facility that includes two performance capture stages, full of pioneering technology that includes motion capture, 4D photogrammetry dome creating immense full body and facial scanning data, that form as part of our advanced creature pipeline that delivers production results within a real-time game engine. Our LED stages for live action filming are set to be built over the next year.
At the moment we are a small and highly engaged artistic and technical team with a common ambition of advancing a seamless Virtual Production pipeline for our own Intellectual Properties, co-productions, and for clients.
We are very excited for the future of film making and being at the forefront of a digital transformation that will bridge technology with creative storytelling.

Versatile Media is looking for a Digital Asset Supervisor who is interested in the exciting new field of Virtual Production. Bring your skills and passion to help us develop the next generation of animation and film making tools.
The function of a Digital Asset Supervisor at Versatile Media is to bring their experience and expertise, both technical and artistic, in order to deliver high end digital assets to our clients and internal projects. This role is a hands-on role that manages the modeling team and workflow of our model creation and delivery.
Reports to the Head of Production.
Accountable and Responsible for…
- Managing the creation and building of high quality digital assets/models (including texture & shading) for feature, television and animation projects.
- Establishing proper workflows for the team and department.
- Assigning work in order to meet milestones and deadlines of projects.
- Overseeing the work created by the modeling team.
- Assisting in creating assets when required
- Approving models and all work to verify technical and quality requirements.
- Mentoring and training team members in both technical and creative capacities.
- Working with Supervisory teams regarding scope of work required to build assets.
- Researching references that may be required for building of assets.
- Efficiently communicate to other team supervisors regarding challenges and potential issues
- Anticipate both creative and technical setbacks and collaborate with Supervisors on finding solutions.
- Working directly with supervisors and clients, including on-set during production shoots when required.
- Collaborating with the other departments including creature dept, animation departments.
- Working closely with management to guide artists overall professional development by providing performance feedback, mentoring, resolving performance issues and maintaining positive morale within the team.
- Assisting with Management, HR and other relevant departments with administrative tasks, including recruitment as it pertains to your department.
Qualifications and Requirements…
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in asset creation as it relates to; animation, live action, television and gaming.
- 3+ years in leading or supervising VFX and/or gaming artists within a CG environment.
- Proficient in the entire asset workflow including texturing, shading and lighting.
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience in 3D modeling, Gaming and VFX.
- Experience in taking abstract concepts and ideas and creating them as photorealistic assets.
- Expert in topology methods and executing for high end projects
- Experience in Maya, Zbrush, Mudbox, Substance Painter
- Proficient on production processes and artist workflows within film and television visual effects pipelines.
- Ability to script pre-publish tools in Python a plus.
- Familiarity with game Unreal Engine workflows is a plus.
- Experience working directly with clients.
- Willingness to work ‘on the box’ and create assets when required
- Ability to understand a team’s strengths and abilities in order to cast work accordingly.
- Able to work independently when required.
- Direct experience managing and leading a team of artists within VFX and/or Gaming.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Experience in mentoring artists and team members.
- Strong solution based trouble-shooting skills.
- Thrives in fast paced environments.
- Excellent English communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin a plus but not required.
- Up-to-date reel and resume showcasing required skills.
