Versatile Media Ltd. is a successful media company that has been a recognized and trusted production hub for over 30 years. We have recently opened a studio in Vancouver, Canada with a sole focus on virtual production workflows for film and TV production using real-time rendering technology as well as creating original animation and live action IP.
Versatile blends creativity with the latest technology in our purpose-built facility that includes two performance capture stages, full of pioneering technology that includes motion capture, 4D photogrammetry dome creating immense full body and facial scanning data, that form as part of our advanced creature pipeline that delivers production results within a real-time game engine. Our LED stages for live action filming are set to be built over the next year.
At the moment we are a small and highly engaged artistic and programming team with a common ambition of advancing a seamless Virtual Production pipeline for our own Intellectual Properties, co-productions, and for our clients.
We are very excited for the future of film making and being at the forefront of a digital transformation that will bridge technology with creative storytelling.
Our studio is currently working remotely (WFH) and our physical space in East Vancouver is located at the newly built Ironworks building in the Port Town neighbourhood.

Versatile Media is looking for a Digital Asset Modeler who is interested in the exciting new field of Virtual Production. Bring your modeling skills and passion to help us develop the next generation of animation and film making tools.
The function of a Digital Asset Modeler at Versatile Media is to build models both organic and hard surface including texturing and UV layouts for high end feature film projects.
Reports to Digital Asset Supervisor.
Accountable and Responsible for…
- Creating and building high quality digital assets for feature, television and animation projects
- Modeling both organic and hard surface assets including UV layouts
- Proficient in texturing within VFX pipeline
- Work with Digital AssetSupervisor to determine scope of work required to build assets
- Researching references that may be required for building of assets
- Full cycle asset creation from design to concept to final models as required
- Working directly with the production department. Including production, concept art, animation, DMP and creature departments, and on-set during production shoots when required
- Some direct client communication when requested in conjunction with Digital Asset Supervisor
- Mentoring and providing guidance to other team members
- Contributing to asset library and manage as required
- Working closely with the Look Development TD regarding asset iterations
Qualifications and Requirements…
- 1 to 5 years of experience in 3D modeling as it relates to animation, live action and gaming. Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply!
- Degree or relevant experience in 3D modeling, Gaming and VFX
- Experience in taking abstract concepts and ideas and creating them as photorealistic assets
- Solid understanding of visual language – texture, colour, dimension, scale, perspective, shade, composition depth of field, proportion, spatial awareness, etc
- Knowledge in topology methods and executing for high end projects
- Experience in Maya, Zbrush, Mudbox, Substance Painter & Mari
- Desire to learn new technologies and design techniques
- Familiarity with game engine workflows a plus.
- A strong understanding of production processes and artist workflows within animation and film visual effects pipelines.
- Able to work independently when required
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to absorb feedback, notes and critiquing and translate to the required output.
- Excellent English communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong solution based trouble-shooting skills
- Up-to-date reel and resume showcasing required skills
