In this role, you will be the main point of contact for artists and team requiring technical support. Your ability to build trust quickly over the phone or email will leave a lasting impression. As a natural problem solver, you will recognize future issues and prevent them. Our team can count on you to provide technical expertise that enables them to focus on creating amazing and beautiful VFX work.

Your Role: 

The VFX industry is fast-paced, access to our computers and systems is vital to our success. As a Junior Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for providing desktop and server support. The primary role is to provide full end-to-end support to remote employees (i.e. from remote workstation through to server access). You will:

  • Provide remote access support for staff and contractors, including investigating and solving hardware, software, and server issues
  • Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT help desk
  • Monitor Service Desk for tickets assigned to the queue and process first-in/first-out based on priority
  • Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for local workstations
  • Install, test, and configure new servers; workstations, equipment, and software
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment and software and software licenses
  • Manage PC setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware, images, and software
  • Monitor overall health of systems

Your Qualifications:  

  • 2 years progressive experience with Help Desk/System Administration experience
  • Background in Linux (CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu)
  • Knowledge of Desktop/Workstation and Server hardware configuration
  • Ability to troubleshoot and understand hardware/software logs
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain scripts in Python, Bash or other scripting languages
  • Extensive experience with hardware troubleshooting
  • Experience with writing technical documentation.
  • Great oral and written communication skills.

Bonus Points: 

  • Understanding of and ability to manage network equipment (an asset)
  • Experience with tape backup and archiving (an asset).
  • Windows experience (an asset).
