Overview

Nitrogen Studios is a Vancouver based animation studio looking for a Lighting and Compositing Artist to help us on an exciting new CGI animated theatrical feature film, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s “Sausage Party”.

A Lighting & Compositing artist, under the direction of the department Leads and Supervisors, is responsible for the lighting and rendering of all 3D elements and the final compositing of high quality production shots. The ideal candidate has an excellent understanding of lighting and composition, with a keen eye for detail.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Light and composite shots per project requirements
• Help ensure that the aesthetic goals of the FX, Art and Show Directors are met in a timely and efficient manner
• Ensure shots meet the established render requirements and are delivered within strict deadlines
• Present shots in a dailies environment and effectively communicate issues regarding their shots
• In conjunction with the department Coordinator, manage logs, data and shot tracking to efficiently track the status of work

Skills & Requirements:

• 3+ years production experience required
• Proficiency with Maya and Nuke (or another node-base compositing system)
• Demonstrate an excellent understanding of light, colour, contrast and shading
• A thorough understanding of common compositing practices: color correction, camera movement, transforms, motion blur, depth of field, mattes, multi-channel workflows
• Excellent communication skills, dedication to responsibilities and attention to detail
• Ability to take direction, collaborate, and offer solutions with great problem solving skills
• Strong time management and prioritization skills with the ability to juggle multiple assignments
• Experience with Shotgun or other tracking software a plus
• Experience with Nuke’s 3D and World Point Pass workflows a plus
• Experience lighting and rendering with RenderMan a plus
• BC residents preferred but not required
