Overview

The role of Model/Texture Artist (MTA) is someone with very strong modelling and texturing skills. This person will be involved in creating hard surface and organic models and textures. Qualified candidates must have proven experience in production environments, demonstrating an ability to model and texture complex and accurate models from reference, previs and scan data.

Responsibilities:

•           The Model/Texture artist works with the asset team to create final models to be used in production.

They are adept at interpreting artistic and technical direction from leads and supervisors.

•           Participates as a team member in determining various design and technical solutions.

•           Responsible for the creation of texture maps for hard surface and organic assets.

•           Works closely with rigging artists and cfx to ensure topology allows for proper movement.

•           Keep supervisors aware of problems arising in pre-production and shot production and offer creative solutions to those issues.

•           Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications:

•           3+ years experience

•           Extensive production experience in creating organic and hard surface models with clean and efficient topology.

•           Quick and efficient UV and texture skills. A thorough knowledge of Mari.

•           Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. The ideal candidate is adept at taking direction and addressing written and verbal notes with quick turnarounds.

•           Strong experience with Maya, Zbrush, and Mari. Substance Painter and Designer experience is a plus.

•           Experience with UVlayout is a plus.

•           Ability to take concept art and create realistic, and well organized models.

•           Flexibility to perform in a constantly changing work environment.

Able to compromise and take criticism well.

•           The ability to work as part of a team and to share assets.

The artist works to a high standard and quality checks their own work.
