Our team is built of talented people with diverse skill-sets, so no two Teamies (what we call Kickstart employees) are the same! Our studio is located in the heart of Strathcona in Vancouver. During these difficult times of living in a pandemic, our interview process will be conducted via Google Meets and we have enabled most of our Teamies to work from home as we navigate what a Hybrid Studio will look like at Kickstart. As we transition to what Hybrid will look like at Kickstart, we are starting to give to certain roles the opportunity to work from the studio, we are happy to consider working from home as an option into the future for many positions. We are excited to create an experience that keeps everyone connected regardless of if you are working from home or in the studio!
Designing and animating effects which are production-friendly and efficient, while maintaining a high artistic standard. You will be working collaboratively with different departments.
Job Duties
- Collaborate with Directors, Supervisors and Art director, to design and create the required style of AFX
- Communicate with various departments for required assets and input
- Find a balance between your creative needs and technical resources available
- Perform artistic tasks and use creative problem solving to produce desired AFX
- Organize and manage own work and files efficiently
- Ensure that all production deadlines are met while producing work at quality level in keeping with production requirements
- Review workload and communicate any issues to Director and Producer
- Utilize MAYA, Flash and AFX capability to complete production tasks as requested.
- Any other tasks as assigned
Job Requirements
- Proficient and experienced in Adobe After Effects, Flash and MAYA
- 2+ years of experience working within a 2D animation production environment
- Prior experience as an AFX Artist on an animated series (strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated experience, comprehension and knowledge of classical animation, character animation and lip-sync
- Ability to work alongside and communicate with a talented and diverse production team
- Drive, determination and strong creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to take direction, be flexible and work collaboratively within a team
- Effective and professional communication
- Excellent attention to detail
