SENIOR MATCHMOVE ARTIST – Image Engine, Vancouver, BC
Contract: starting January, 2015

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Use background plates to obtain camera and object motion in plate photography. This may include animating live action characters or relative object in the scene (rotomation)
Models stand-in matchmove geometry used by Animators and Technical Directors
Does basic composites of the files with the background to judge the camera and object solves
Works with the matchmove team to maintain continuity between shots, and troubleshoot problem shots
Under the direction of the project Supervisors, the Matchmover will set up the technical and aesthetic approaches of the matchmove work for a shot, sequence, or even an entire aspect of a show
THIS IS WHAT WE REQUIRE:

At least 4 – 5+ years’ experience with a high-level film-based camera tracking pipeline
Preferred experience with 3d Equalizer software-tracking native plates and solving for distortion as well as solving lensgrids and plate dewarping
Object tracking experience within #DE and hand keying within a Maya when necessary
Strong understanding of on-set photography and film and how various camera rigs create camera movement in live action plates
Fully understands an iteration intensive shot pipeline
Some scripting ability in MEL and python is an advantage
Knowledge an working experience with Maya
Basic knowledge of Nuke
