LEAD TEXTURE ARTIST – Image Engine, Vancouver, BC
Contract: starting January, 2015

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL DO:
 

Responsible for the continual improvement of our texture painting workflow, tools and staff. Will be involved in the day-to-day texture department operations as well as identifying and recommending innovative, cutting edge techniques and processes.Collaborate with the lighting and modeling departments to identify standards for the texture workflow
Work with pipeline department to implement innovative and efficient texture workflow and processes
Establish and maintain department standards
Maintain high quality of work produced by department
Assign appropriate texture tasks to painters based on respective skillsets
Responsible for painting characters or assets on given shows
Oversee texture work coming into the studio and work directly with Asset Supervisor in deciding the texture needs on any given show
Organize and manage repository of textures and data
Evaluate new software and hardware technologies in a partnership with the R&D dept and IT
Oversee creation of texture department related documentation
Direct and mentor department texture painters
Assist with education and training of new texture painters
Evaluate potential new texture painters (interviews/reel reviews)
THIS IS WHAT WE REQUIRE:
 

Experience
5+ yrs of texture painting experience on feature films
Experience in large studio environments
Knowledge

Extremely proficient with commercial 2D and 3D paint packages and UV packages
Familiarity with modelingModeling
Digital matte projection techniques
Film color management issues
3D lighting and look development
Comfortable in windows and unix environments
Work Ethic

Must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively with a diverse collection of individuals
Interest and ability to mentor artists
Promote interdepartmental collaboration
Attention to detail required
Ability to learn quickly and assimilate new information
