Overview
POSITION PURPOSE
The primary focus of the Junior BG Prep Artist is to complete plate preparation for downstream departments. Artists will be required to complete rotoscoping and paint tasks based on Image Engine’s production needs. They will work with the BG Prep Lead to identify key strengths and areas of development to maximize their time and to assist in shot distribution. Junior BG Prep artists will complete shots within assigned timeframe. They will use their listening skills to take on feedback for shot improvement and professional development. They will begin to quality check their work to improve standards and develop as an artist. They will troubleshoot problems as necessary; however, will bring questions forward to Leads and Supervisors as soon as possible to ensure effective use of time and resources.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Apply notes or feedback provided by Supervisors/Leads
Processing requests from pipeline departments
Manage time and resources to meet weekly targets
Rotoscoping
Marker removal
Crew/cameras/set removal
Set extensions
Basic rig and wire removal
Communicate with team Supervisors/Leads
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
6 month – 1 year of feature film/TV production experience
Proficient in Nuke
Experience with Photoshop is an asset
Working knowledge of Silhouette or Mocha is preferred
Knowledge of a 3D package such as Maya and 3DS Max is an asset
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Technical skills
Experience rotoscoping for film
Knowledge of tracking (camera tracking, planar tracking, 2D tracking)
Understanding of colour management
Understanding of grain management
Core skills
Ability to quality control your own shot
Excellent time management and communication skills
Eye for detail
