Well known for our work on Neill Blomkamp’s District 9, Image Engine has gone on to create numerous incredible creatures, epic environments and extraordinary digital effects for a broad range of feature films! POSITION PURPOSE

VFX Editors at Image Engine play a very important role in the quality control and final output of our work. VFX Editors are responsible for all set up and completion of all editorial work for show delivery, demo reels or any additional promotional pieces. They will ensure the seamless incorporation of finaled version shots into high quality live action sequences in line with Image Engine’s quality standards.
VFX Editors work in conjunction with the Executive Producer and Central Production Manager to ensure all tasks managed to meet show delivery and client requirements. In addition, VFX editors will work with the Marketing Manager to develop demo reels to help promote Image Engines work and secure new business. They will ensure that all work completed is brand aligned and highlights the areas of work specified by the Executive Producer/Marketing Manager.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in setting up shows, ensuring editorial formats of the pipeline are in place
Organize directories and files in a logical and structured manner
Monitor shot continuity, as it relates to the placement and timing of all visual effects shots within the current edit
Keep cuts updated with latest VFX versions of shots
Implement & monitor effective formats for internal review of team/show material on a daily basis or as required
Create and update demo reels of VFX material for specific needs as assigned by Marketing and Production
Use the Shotgun to review shot volume (the number of shots per episode) before the commencement of work, and during the course of production to monitor variations in volume (as it will pertain to scheduling and disk storage)
Work closely with the Sequence Supervisors and VFX Coordinator to ensure the timely updating of all shots (completed and in progress) on a daily basis
Prepare and create the output media (QuickTime)) for producer/supervisor review as required for the on-time delivery of visual effects for both TEMPS and FINALS deliveries to production
Maintain database logs, data and work orders as required to efficiently track the status of all work
Provide artists with editorial information such as cut lengths, re-speed info, etc.
Update sequences with any changes to the cut from client editorial and communicate these changes to the team
Assist with theatre screenings
Run RV for dailies or additional screenings
Create lineup sheets in PDF
Other duties and responsibilities consistent with your position as may be assigned to you from time to time

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2 years of film editing experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical school certification in film editing or computer graphics, or equivalent work experience (Experience must be in animation, film or digital effects)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Technical skills

Advanced knowledge of Avid
Familiarity with Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere is an asset
Experience with QuickTime
Understanding of Shotgun

Able to manage multiple projects efficiently and in a professional manner within tight deadlines
