KEY SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The main routine tasks of this position are:

 

Assist in developing character and environment lighting schemes to create visually compelling cinematics.
Work with modelers, animators, texture and FX artists to optimize the visual look of the rendering.
Assist in tweaking of shading materials and textures to improve the perception of the lighting.
Involved in look-development around key surfaces and shaders to ensure lighting delivers against the visual reference.
Prototyping the use of lighting technology to reach the visual targets defined by the art direction.
Assist in create and/or modify lighting templates to be used by the entire crew.
Contributing to the development and placement of special effects related to lighting and atmosphere, such as light flares, fog, god rays and camera optics.
Collaborate and communicate constructively with Concept Artist, Technical Artists and Compositors.
Learn from team members to troubleshooting technical production issues, especially those related to lighting.
Other duties assigned by the team

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

 

Understanding of color theory and practical lighting concepts
Understanding of CG lighting technology, both real-time and offline rendering.
Good artistic skills, with a particular emphasis on real-world lighting/photography.
Knowledge of offline render workflow, experienced in Vray, Arnold, Renderman or Redshift.
Knowledge of Nuke and Photoshop is an asset.
Experience with real-time rendering (Unreal Engine) is a bonus.
Experience using Substance Designer and Substance Painter shading workflow is an asset.
Good communication skills and an ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance.

Position type: start with 3 months contract with possible conversion to regular permanent employment based on your performance.
