About the Position

The CG supervisor is in charge or has senior input regarding artist management and resource planning, and also plays a senior role in digital productions. While it is a creative role, most supervisors possess a strong technical background and are capable of making informed decisions about the most efficient and effective techniques to employ in order to solve the problem at hand.  With the help of the technical team, the CG Supervisor provides up-front project setup and configuration, ongoing guidance of the project through the production pipeline, strategic planning for upcoming technical challenges, and ultimately delivery against critical milestones.  The CG Supervisor will work in tandem with the technical team, the Producer and Visual Effects Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the successful execution of a project through the production pipeline
Evaluates the creative requirements of a project, determines their technical implications, and makes high-impact operational decisions
Works with the Pipeline Tools group on project-specific strategic initiatives for new tools, processes, or methodologies and ensures timely delivery of those initiatives relative to the milestones of a production
Collaborates with production technology leadership peers, attends regular production technology team meetings and serves an active role in the direction of the pipeline
Manages the CG Department artists in daily production activities. Promotes growth, creativity, and technical skills by developing and implementing adapted and needed tools
Gathers and oversees technical requirements/specifications for the production tools
Collaborates with Producers, Directors, Leads and Managers to formulate time lines and staffing plans for all types of content production
Is responsible for ensuring productions come in on or under budget
Provides continuous and regular performance feedback and coaching to team members and works with the HR Director where progressive discipline is required
Is responsible for being involved in any termination for a team member
Develops and integrates CG technical and workflow strategies within the department and collaborates with department Managers to insure successful integration across the studio
Works in the respect of the different deadlines and other key phases of the different projects
Participate in strategic planning and strategic inquiry about the developed projects
Studies patterns and trends, identifies current technical challenges, and forecasts future requirements for critical pipeline resources such as network storage, render nodes, and software licensing
Stays attentive to emerging industry technologies and production techniques, and determines practical applications for these advancements in order to improve production
Collaborates with production leadership peers, attends regular production team meetings and serves an active role in the direction of the pipeline
Ensures the high visual fidelity of the images created by the CG team
Requirements:

Thorough knowledge of Maya and you are well accustomed to the CG industry standards tools
Extensive production experience in all the following areas: layout, animation, modeling, texturing, rigging, fur/hair, cloth, effects, lighting, and compositing
Extensive previous experience leading technical teams of 20+ individuals, across multiple inter-related initiatives
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities, both written and verbal
Engages production leadership and teams with a positive attitude and encourages collaboration
Ability to manage time and balance priorities, often amidst the pressures of busy, deadline-driven production
Strong aesthetic sense; demonstrates exceptional ability to make creative and aesthetic judgment calls
Experience in developing CG production pipelines
Excellent attention to detail
Have excellent abilities to analyze and take decisions
Knowledge of production tools / software (ShotGun) and Excel
