Overview

Purpose of the job:
The Lead Modeler oversees a team of modeling artists for the project and creates complex photorealistic models from scratch.
The Lead Modeler participates in determining the method and procedures for the project while working closely with the CG
Supervisor to ensure all models meet the aesthetic and technical standards for the project.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
 Oversee the development of the project’s modeling pipeline
 Assign tasks to the modeling team and ensure production deadlines are met
 Completes or oversees the most difficult work and complex sequences
 Complete tasks within production deadlines and is self-directed
 Work closely with the texture and rigging departments to ensure models are working smoothly throughout the
production pipeline
 Work closely with Production to determine staffing and scheduling needs for the modeling team
 Work closely with the CG Supervisor to help set and meet aesthetic and technical standards for models.

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience Required:
 A broad expertise and skills are needed to contribute to developing techniques and procedures so that goals can be
achieved in creative and effective ways.
 6+ years of experience creating photorealistic models for feature films in Maya.
 Lightwave or 3D Studio Max are also advantageous
 2+ years of Leading or mentoring experience
 Extensive experience working from 2D reference as well as cyberscan data. Retopologizing experience is a plus.
 Zbrush and Mudbox experience is preferred
 Internal Digital Domain pipeline experience is preferred
 Photorealistic texture painting and lighting experience is a plus
 Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
