Crafty Apes is a high-end visual effects company with a strong foothold in features and episodic television.  We are looking for a mid-senior level DMP Artist with experience in episodic TV and feature film formats.  The perfect candidate must have a proven track record of producing high quality photo-real work, be a team player, effective communicator and thrive on daily challenges. Please note that while this role is remote, candidates must reside in British Columbia.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with the CG Supervisor, VFX Supervisor, Production and Creative Departments to create concept art, matte paintings and set extensions, either standalone, or to be integrated into live-action environments.
• Produce senior level concept and design work.
• Obtain a level of realism based on the art direction of the project.
• Ability to adapt to the show’s artistic style.
• Meet all milestones while adhering to the show’s schedules and pipelines.
• Take direction and effectively communicate with team and management.
• Lead other DMPs by giving direction and technical guidance, finding creative solutions and providing constructive feedback to ensure a high-quality result, on time and on budget.
• Maintain and develop knowledge/skills, staying up to date with new methods/techniques.
• Provide creative and technical input on projects to improve quality and efficiency.
• Organize workloads and prepare presentation elements for validations.
• Communicate and search for solutions and information when necessary.
• Maintain a good team dynamic.
• Attend and engage in project and company-wide meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of experience in DMP and/or Concept Art in a VFX production environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in illustration, industrial design, or fine art, is preferred.
• An advanced knowledge of the following:
  • Unreal Game Engine
  • Photoshop
  • Nuke, Maya or 3DS Max
  • 3D rendering
• Nice to have:Knowledge of:
  • RV and ShotGrid
  • 2.5D / 3D projecting experience (3D generalist or Nuke compositing experience)
  • Strong knowledge of photography, especially in relation to lenses
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
