Crafty Apes is a high-end visual effects company with a strong foothold in features and episodic television. We are hiring a Junior Matchmove Artist to join our Vancouver team. The ideal candidate will have some professional experience, and a willingness to learn and grow within the company. This is a remote (within BC), full-time staff position with benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Hands-on operation of CG Workstation, reporting to 3D Leads and Supervisors.
• Accurately track both rigid and deforming objects in plates, such as cars, people, cloth, etc. while maintaining an accurate 3D volume for use in final compositing.
• Create matchmove (rotomation) animation on top of photographed plates.
• Learn and develop generalist skills in 3D.
• Tackle challenging situations and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Take direction and effectively communicate with team and management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar position. Experience with episodic and live action features is an asset.
• Proficient object and camera tracking in SynthEyes and/or 3DEqualizer.
• Proficient use of Maya software.
• Must be organized and able to meet deadlines.
• Proactive self-starter with a willingness to learn.
