Crafty Apes is a high-end visual effects company with a strong foothold in features and episodic television. We are looking for a Lead Roto/Paint Artist to join our Montreal location. The perfect candidate needs to be a dependable team player with a great attitude, and able to make fast turnarounds. This is a remote (within Quebec), full-time staff position with benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Quality control (QC) both internal shots and outsourced shots.
• Work directly with the Compositing team and Compositing Supervisor to seamlessly integrate elements of a shot to the highest level of VFX realism.
• Proactively troubleshoot and problem-solve.
• Attend production meetings as required.
• Provide guidance for team members.
• Take direction, and effectively communicate with both the team and management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BA/BS preferred.
• At least 5 years’ experience working in rotoscoping and paint, working on major live action (realistic)
• Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Nuke and Silhouette.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of live action feature film VFX pipeline.
• Intermediate compositing experience.
• High attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong leadership skills.
