Position:         CG Supervisor
Location:         VANCOUVER
Facility:           Crafty Apes

Crafty Apes is a high-end visual effects boutique with a strong foothold in features and episodic television.  We currently have an opening for a CG Supervisor with extensive experience in photo-real assets & look development.  The CG Supervisor will ensure the throughput of shots and assets to completion in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Work in conjunction with the VFX Supervisor, Producer, and Production Manager to develop a strong and flexible CG pipeline.
·       Work with the Project Coordinator and Producer to facilitate the scheduling of artists and resources.
·       Work with the VFX Supervisors to provide artistic and technical notes to the team.
·       Develop, maintain, and/or approve 3D techniques.
·       Lead artists, while delegating roles and responsibilities.
·       Follow CG elements from concept through to final comp, overseeing all elements created by the CG team.
·       Design, execute, and manage high-level CG for use in final compositing through a team, reporting progress to the VFX Supervisor.
·       Work “on the box” as the lead artist, as show size and needs may require.
·       Address the body of work arriving from scanning, previews for initial color-correction requirements and initial shot composite requirements.
·       Monitor shot continuity in all aspects of quality control, including final color-correction for timely delivery.
·       Oversee training of new team members & facilitates production needs with every team member.
·      Aid in maintaining a positive and supportive work environment.
·      Provide mentorship.
·      Maintain a highly professional demeanor and level of diplomacy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·      Minimum 3 years CG Supervising on episodic and film projects at a VFX facility.
·      Strong working knowledge of 3D software packages (Maya, 3dsMax,VRay).
·      Strong R&D, asset building and look development capabilities.
·      Strong working knowledge of texture applications (Substance, Mari).
·      On-set experience is a plus.
·      Ability to test new techniques and technology as necessary.
·      Must be able to supervise multiple projects and artists simultaneously (and flawlessly).
·      The ability to work flexible hours is necessary.
