Position:         Pipeline Developer
Location:         U.S. or Canada
Facility:           Crafty Apes

Crafty Apes is a high-end visual effects boutique with a strong foothold in features and episodic television.  We currently have an opening for Pipeline Developers to create visual effects tools, workflows and automating processes for the 3D/VFX pipeline.  This is a full-time salaried position requiring overtime as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·      Assist in the design, development, testing and maintaining of new tools or updates to existing tools.

·      Develop and support Python scripts to automate certain areas of the pipeline.

·      Work with VFX Supervisor to identify strategic opportunities.

·      Take ownership of technical issues and work with the pipeline team and external users to resolve.

·      Adapt tools for the problems at hand while balancing between long-term tool sets and short-term production-specific demands.

·      Implement and document pipeline tools, scripts and procedures to support the development and deployment of creative productions.

REQUIREMENTS:

·      Experience building pipelines and deploying tools for distributed team.
·      Advanced knowledge of Python and C++.
·      Proficient with one or more software APIs: Maya, Nuke, Shotgun, Vray, Houdini.
·      Prior experience with revision control systems such as Git or SVN is preferred.
·      Experience with Qt/PySide.
·      Must have a developed approach to software design and implementation.
·       Strong understanding of VFX production processes for film and television.
·      Must be able to work collaboratively with other developers, in a coordinated manner, on the same product.
·      Experience with implementing or working directly with databases would be beneficial.
·      Experience with VFX Asset Management System design or development is a plus.
·      Communicates effectively with managers and other levels of personnel.
·      Meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
