Are you an experienced Director looking for your next project? Bardel’s Vancouver studio is currently recruiting for an experienced Series Director to join one of our exciting new 3D productions. The Series Director will be responsible for providing creative leadership, vision, and artistic direction to the project, directing all creative teams and ensuring high quality results.

What you will be doing:

• Oversee and supervise all creative leads and artists during the creative process, providing ideas, making decisions and offering viable solutions to creative roadblocks.
• Read and comment on all drafts of scripts to ensure that they are compatible with the creative vision of the project and that they are producible within the parameters of the schedule.
• Exercise superior leadership, collaborative and communication skills to ensure that inter and intra departmental tasks are assigned, understood and completed.
• Ensure that the Production’s overall creative vision is understood and followed through by the Creative team.
• Review and approve all creative materials prior to distribution to executive producers and stakeholders.
• Ensure that story artists understand the storytelling style of the show and the overall creative vision.
• Review and comment on all storyboards and animatics prior to distribution to executive producers and stakeholders.
• Cultivate and maintain a creative and successful working relationship with executive producers and stakeholders. Be confident in your creative vision but flexible and open-minded to alternate ideas.
• Work with the production team to ensure that deadlines are met per the Weekly Schedule and Overall Production Schedule.  Notify Producer in advance when creative issues may alter deadlines.
• Be available to discuss artist performance of the crew.
• Participate in the recruiting process.
• Provide creative direction during voice record sessions.
• Ensure all artwork is reviewed and approved prior to meetings.
• Be available to travel to designated locations, locally and abroad per the needs of the production.
• Motivate your crew to expand their limits and encourage them to share new ideas.
• Mentor and offer support to less experienced artists, providing them with guidance and instruction.

What you bring with you:

• 5+ years of Director experience in animation industry
• Proven success in managing creative teams
• Strong working knowledge of animation process from script to screen
• Knowledge of storytelling principles and techniques
• Well organized and able to juggle multiple priorities
• Collaborative team-focused approach
