We are searching for a Matte Painter to join our Vancouver studio team. The Matte Painter will be responsible for creating photo-realistic renditions of backgrounds or set elements to provide 2D set extensions, cycloramas, or other 2D image components.

What you will be doing:

  • Paint backgrounds and props using Photoshop to fit with the approved style of the series
  • Maintain the style and execution of the backgrounds as per the requirements of the production
  • Actively participate in team and department meetings
  • Meet all project deadlines and milestones and follow the production schedule to execute all episodic elements as specified by episodic delivery schedule
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and teammates to identify problems and solutions
  • May mentor less experienced artists and lead by example, providing them with support, guidance and instruction in areas that provide for their artistic and professional growth

What you bring to the table:

  • Full command of Photoshop
  • Strong knowledge of techniques for photo-realistic rendering of paintings
  • Experience and/or ability to use Maya an asset (for modelling purposes or accessing existing CG assets for reference)
  • 2 to 3 years experience in similar capacity preferred
