Arcana Studio is looking to hire a Production Manager to work directly with our admin team and artists. Arcana is a Burnaby based animation studio which specializes in the production of animated feature films.  We are in search of an experienced, reliable and task-oriented Production Manager.  The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, professional, and capable of managing their work load and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced corporate environment. Responsibilities

  • Support the Producers in creating the master schedule for production and contribute to the overall scheduling of the project; execute department schedules through production planning, coordination and troubleshooting
  • Assist the Producer in assigning appropriate resources to ensure completion of their respective departments goals
  • Work closely with other Department Heads to ensure that inventory moves smoothly from one department to the next
  • Deliver all department reports as requested by the Producer, maintaining awareness of status and progress of tasks within the craft groups
  • Support with hands-on mentoring, coaching and development of Production Coordinators within their departments ensuring scheduling, tracking, and reporting tasks meet expectations
  • Partner with Craft Supervisors and Creative Leads to develop and document the appropriate review process, procedures and framework for each craft group overseen; contribute towards efficiencies and improvements when possible
  • Set milestones, deadlines, and priorities as advised by the Producer within the craft groups; clearly communicate these to the Production Coordinators and update, as required, with any variances
  • Partner with Craft Supervisors, as required, for performance management of the team
  • Complete special projects as needed or requested

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience working within a production team in VFX, Animation Production, or a related industry
  • 2+ years’ experience supervising production staff
  • Senior production experience working on at least one feature animation or VFX project
  • Thorough understanding of CG based workflows on a large scale production
  • Technical knowledge/experience in film formats, digital media and film techniques
  • Exceptional scheduling skills and working knowledge of database tracking software such as Shotgrid
  • Advanced knowledge of Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; strong attention to detail
  • Proven organizational skills, including proactive prioritization, and effective time-management
  • Highly developed English written and oral communication skills
  • Self-awareness: calm and focused presence and approach, even when under pressure
  • Works well independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Fosters strong relationships and communication both within their team, across departments, and with a variety of personality types
