Overview
We are seeking an Artist Management Supervisor for our Vancouver Animation studio to successfully lead the Vancouver artist management team in ensuring an efficient and consistent approach to the resourcing and management of artists. This role reports into the Executive Vice President & General Manager of the Studio, leads the artist management team, as well as personally manages a number of assigned artists.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with the Head of Artist Management (Sydney) and the EVP &GM to develop a consistent approach to the daily operations of the Vancouver artist management team
- Leading, developing and growing the Vancouver-based Artist Management team members
- Working with Production, Recruitment and other artist management team members to schedule existing and new hires into appropriate roles and establish longer term recruitment needs
- Cultivating a strong studio culture and keep artists motivated and engaged in collaboration with Craft Supervisors, Leads, Production, HR and other artist management team members
- Leading project/yearly compensation and performance reviews for artists in collaboration with Craft Supervisors, Leads and other artist management team members
- Direct management, coaching and mentoring of assigned Artists
- Managing reviews, training and project scheduling for assigned artists to help their development and nurture their career growth
- Partner with HR on talent management strategies and processes for all artists in the studio
- Partner with HR to continually review policies that pertain to all artists in the studio
- Partner with facility managers on seating arrangements and structure for all artists in the studio
To be successful in this role, the following is required of all candidates:
- Over five years’ experience working in the Animation and Visual Effects industry
- At least four years’ experience as an senior artist manager within a large global studio
- Experience supervising/managing a facilities based team (artist management, HR, production etc)
- Experience in recruitment, onboarding, managing, developing and coaching a large number of direct reports
- Experience in forecasting, budgeting and scheduling resources on projects
- Experience in managing the annual performance and compensation review process, employee contract renewals, salary negotiations and promotions
- Experience working closely with Executive and HR teams
- Well-developed inter-personal communication and listening skills and conflict resolution skills
- Formal qualifications related to role/industry is desirable
